As usual, the Spring Fling will be held at nearby Guadalupe River State Park, May 30th – June 1st, 2008.
Church members have the option of camping for one, or two nights, or coming just during one or both days, or even just for the Saturday potluck.
Individual activities include, swimming, rafting, tubing, kayaking, canoeing, cycling, hiking, picnicking, Frisbee throwing, or just lying in a hammock! (All water sport equipment is rentable at the park.)
Scheduled park activities include a walking tour of adjacent Honey Creek Natural Area (9:00 am Saturday), a Saturday evening nature talk in the amphitheatre (7:00 pm), and a Sunday morning (8:30 am) bird walk.
Group church activities include a Saturday afternoon potluck picnic, scavenger hunt, horseshoes, bocce ball, and anything else folks are willing to bring and set up. Parking, a playground and restrooms are right next to where we normally have our potluck.
Day use is $6 (ages 13-64), $3 (65+) and under 13 are free. Campers pay it only upon entering. The purchase of a Texas State Parks Pass gets you free admission to all state parks as often as you like for one year from date of purchase. Campsites with water only are $14 per night, with electric are $18. A walk in primitive site costs $12.
Campers need to make their own reservations and can do so by calling 512/389-8900 or going to http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/business/park_reservations/.
MAKE YOUR RESERVATIONS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, AS MANY WEEKENDS ARE ALREADY FULL. (You can always cancel if you change your mind.) Reservations are not for specific campsites; only for the type of site you want. Members can communicate with one another regarding where they’d like to camp, and if they arrive early, can try to camp at neighboring sites. Sites can also be shared by families/persons, so long as your tents can both/all fit on the tent “pad’, which is 16’ x 16’.
