CREF FLOWER POWER GRANT NOMINATON

Help the First Unitarian Universalist Church of San Antonio give something Back to the Community!

Nominate a local Not-for-Profit organization
to receive a small CREF Flower Power Grant

The Community Responsibility Endowment Fund was created by members of the First Unitarian Universalist Church of San Antonio to provide a consistent source of funds to be used to address the charitable, religious, educational and scientific needs of the San Antonio Metropolitan area. Each year members contribute to the trust fund. All contributions are held in trust and the interest earned is awarded to qualifying non-profit organizations. The grants, called “Flower Power” grants, have been in amounts ranging from $250 to $1,000. The purpose of the grant is to be used as seed money, to help bridge a financial gap, or to aid in leveraging support from other sources.

In February of each year the CREF trustees call on our congregation to nominate nonprofit organizations wishing to receive a “Flower Power” grant. Recipients of the grants must meet certain eligibility requirements. To be eligible an organization must:

  1. Qualify as an exempt organization under Section 501 ( c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
  2. Not have received a CREF grant in the previous year.
  3. Reflect the values of the current membership of the First Unitarian Universalist Church of San Antonio.
  4. Serve the San Antonio metropolitan area.

The deadline for nominations is Sunday, February 21, 2010
