- Celestial Celebrations
Circle :
- CCC's purpose is to provide spiritual enrichment for UUs interested in
exploring earth-centered spirituality, and also to provide the opportunity
for other San Antonio pagans to connect with Unitarian Universalism. All
CCC events are open to any interested adult who wishes to explore this spiritual
path in harmony with Unitarian Universalist Purposes and Principles.
When/Where: Once a month for planning and once a month for drum circle or to celebrate
one of the 8 turning points of the year. Check group website for calendar.

- Emerson Book Shop:
- An opportunity to purchase books for all ages about Unitarian Universalism
and with liberal religious themes, as well as bumper stickers, jewelry,
fair trade coffee and chocolate. A sampling of the types of books
available can be found here.

- Occasional presentations and/or discussion group on various topics of
current interest to our church community and to the community at large.
Forum topics are scheduled by the Social Action Committee.

- Introduction to Unitarian Universalism:
- Interested in learning more about being a Unitarian Universalist? Consider joining a new adult learning class that begins every 2 months. We will be discussing the book by John Buehrens and Forrest Church entitled "A Chosen Faith: An Introduction to Unitarian Universalism". The class will be limited to the first 15 people to sign up and is designed for people new to the Unitarian Universalist faith. Books are available at the Emerson bookstore and cost $15. The class lasts 9 weeks. The next class starts December 7, 2008.

- New Unitarian Universalism Orientation (New UU):
- Facilitated by our minister and the Membership Committee, this course
is a great way to learn about Unitarian Universalism. It provides an overview
of our congregation and is required for new members who have not previously
belonged to a Unitarian Universalist church.

- Parent Religious Education
- If you have ever felt challenged by the task of raising children in a
culture of consumerism and violence or have wondered how to help your kids
develop Unitarian Universalist values, please join us in Parent RE. This
facilitator-led group uses curricula to explore these and other related issues.
Meets at 9:40 in the Office Conference Room on most Sundays except for the
1st Sunday of each month.

- Path to Membership:
- If you are interested in becoming a new member of our church, we will hold a Path to Membership Class quarterly. The class is normally on Saturdays from 9 AM to 1 PM. Morning coffee and lunch provided. Class includes the history of our church, how our church is organized, church activities, visits by select board and council members, tour of the campus, team building and more. Childcare available upon request.

- Power Living:
- Please join us as we gather to discuss, reflect and meditate on a variety of topics concerning our relationships with others. Each session is self-contained, so don't feel like you need to have attended any prior meetings.

- Religious Explorations:
- Religious Explorations is a year 'round class exploring various topics of interest for religious liberals. Frequently the format is a recorded half-hour lecture, usually in a video format, followed by a half hour's discussion. The class occassionally reads books of interest to Unitarians. Examples of materials used include William Murray's Reason
and Reverence, Forrest Church's Love and Death - My Journey through
the Valley of the Shadow and the lecture series The Theory of Evolution:
A History of Controversy.

- Spiritual Seekers:
- We examine world religions and spiritual ideas with emphasis given to
their relevance to our lives today and the commonalities that link each
religion. We provide a community for each member to find their own spiritual
path in an open, inquiring, supportive environment.

- UU Philosophy Class:

This Fall, we will be viewing lectures by numerous academic luminaries. We
will begin with lectures from the Skeptics Society Conference on Brain,
Mind, and Consciousness. Then, we will view the BBC program
PBS refuses to air on the Root of All Evil? with Richard Dawkins. Later,
we will view lectures by Steven Pinker on his book The Stuff of Thought:
Language as a Window into Human Nature, by Jared Diamond on his Pulitzer
prize winning book Guns,
Germs Steel, plus many others. ALL ARE WELCOME TO JOIN THE DISCUSSION. For

- Way of Selflessness:

We start with a ten minute meditation. We listen to a lecture from the “Way of Selflessness” series by Joel Morwood of the Center for Sacred Sciences in Eugene, Oregon, then discuss what we’ve heard. Once a month we substitute a video of or by another teacher for the lecture.
When/Where: Thursday night practice, 7:00 PM in the Mary Shelley room.
